Having worked as a database developer and architect early in his career, Michel is an open-source enthusiast. After transitioning through roles as a network and server administrator, incident responder and SOC manager, he currently specialises in cybersecurity and enjoys having the opportunity to balance safe development practices, networking and infrastructure.
As the Chief Information Security Officer at Essbio, Michel recently sat down with us to discuss his main security concerns, how the pandemic has affected his organisation and what he feels the future holds for his industry over the next 5 years.
What are your main security concerns and what are you prioritising at the moment? How has the pandemic shaped them?
At the moment, one main security concern facing enterprises is teleworking and the risk that poses for tradition enterprise architecture owing to the expansion of the security perimeter. I believe that one of the most essential priorities needs to be endpoint security; this new era of corporate devices in home environments only serves to exacerbate existing risks.
What is your advice on balancing security and digitalisation?
I believe that the digitalization of society and security must be handled together. Security culture and the security by design concept are very important to achieve good, secure standing.
What do the next 5 years hold for your industry?
The future in my humble opinion maybe reserves big and accelerated changes for all of us, not only the sanitary industry. The new trend of a cooperative work environment maybe will be the next evolution of modern enterprises.
