Gibus, a World-leading Italian manufacturer of awnings and pergolas, began its collaboration with Monokee in 2017 as part of a broader effort to modernise and secure its IT infrastructure. At the time, Gibus lacked a centralized Identity and Access Management (IAM) system.

Gibus’ first need was to allow access to Sharepoint to different types of users using shared accounts. To solve this problem, a SAML federation was used and the organization of users in Monokee into different groups, each of which was associated with a different account.

In the following years, Monokee provided the customer with protection for the reserved area of the site, allowing access in SSO and therefore acting as a SAML IdP not only towards Office365, but also towards the reserved area.

Following these first integrations, from 2018 to today, additional applications have been integrated, both with the SAML2 protocol and through a proprietary technology that allows the inject of credentials for applications that do not support federation protocols. From 2 initial applications, we now have more than 20 applications protected by Monokee for the Gibus customer.

In 2021, Monokee was integrated with Salesforce using the Visual Identity Orchestrator. The need was to allow the recovery of some attributes related to dealers and related stores from Salesforce, attributes that then had to be spent for access to third-party applications in sso. Thanks to vio, it was possible to record additional information on users who were already present in Monokee and at the same time recover information related to the stores they manage, without making the data persist for the stores. In this way, it was possible to enrich the data when logging in to specific applications using VIO.

In 2023, Monokee was integrated with Entra ID to allow the synchronization of internal users. Again thanks to VIO, it was possible to build a flow that allowed the nightly recovery of internal Gibus users and related groups from Entra ID and then record them on Monokee. It was then possible to assign the correct applications to the groups recovered from Entra ID, effectively allowing this integration to be brought into production in 20 working days. This part of the project allowed us to win the EIC 2023 Best Enterprise IAM Project award in 2023.

Finally, in 2024, Entra ID was integrated also for internal users of Leiner, a German company acquired by Gibus, to allow them to access the platform and use the applications they need.
